History of the Treasury Department
The Treasury Department was established by merging the Great Royal Treasury Department, the Monetary Department, the Department of Royal State Property and Public Property, and the Royal Thai Mint on May 23, 1933, according to the Royal Decree on the Organization of Departments under the Ministry of Finance, B.E. 2476 (1933), under the name “Department of Royal Treasury.” It was later renamed the “Department of Treasury” on December 9, 1933, according to the Royal Decree on the Organization of Offices and Departments under the Ministry of Finance, B.E. 2476 (1933). Thereafter, the Reorganization of Ministries, Bureaus, and Departments Act, B.E. 2495 (1952), and the Transfer of Authorities and Duties Regarding the Government Affairs of Ministries, Bureaus, and Departments Act, the Revision Edition, B.E. 2495 (1952), led to the name change from the Department of Treasury to the “Treasury Department” on March 12, 1952, which it holds until now.
