Mint Division Missions
- Produce circulating coins and commemorative coins according to the needs of the Treasury Department, government agencies, and state organizations.
- Produce commemorative medals, royal decorations, insignias of honor, and contracted items according to the client's requirements.
- Demolish, melt, destroy, and clean coins according to the needs of the Treasury Department.
- Install and repair h4room doors and safe deposit box keys according to the needs of government agencies.
Missions by Unit
1. General Administration Section
Responsible for general administrative affairs of the Mint Office and matters not specifically assigned to any particular group/section. These duties include document management, library services, human resources, domestic and international training, seminars, and study tours, nursing and welfare services, occupational safety, health, and work environment, disciplinary matters, establishment of security systems and measures for premises, maintenance and reporting of repairs for buildings, facilities, and utility systems, and vehicle service management.
2. Business Development Section
Responsible for management related to accepting contract manufacturing orders and custom orders from government agencies and private entities, both domestically and internationally. This includes customer service, marketing planning to promote sales, expanding business channels, revenue collection, debt collection, debt recovery, monitoring metal prices, packaging, and other raw material information for quotation purposes. It also involves researching and compiling data to develop new products from various sources, as well as conducting domestic and international study tours to explore income opportunities and provide options for clients. It conducts meetings of the advisory committee for coins or commemorative medals, seeks approval in principle, and requests Royal Sanction for the production of commemorative coins and commemorative medals. It prepares projects for submission to the Legal Affairs Bureau for the issuance of Ministerial Regulations. It manages the souvenir shop and the learning center, and handles public relations, internal broadcasting, and guided tours to provide knowledge to general visitors, groups, and international visitors. It also manages the learning center's exhibitions, ensuring they are dynamic, rotating as appropriate, and remain up to date. It maintains audio-visual equipment and materials in ready-to-use condition. It organizes customer relations activities and events for important occasions.
3. Procurement and Warehouse Section
Responsible for procuring supplies based on the estimated revolving fund for coin production and manufacturing, within the budget authorized by the Director of the Royal Thai Mint from the Director-General of the Treasury Department. This includes procurement procedures in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Office Regulations on Procurement B.E. 2535 (1992) and its amendments. It manages the receipt, disbursement, control, storage, and transport of coin blanks, finished coins, defective coins, and tarnished coins. It also manages the receipt, disbursement, and storage of precious metals, master dies, and working dies. It handles damaged working dies, defective coins, and tarnished coins for destruction, melting, or cleaning. It disposes of unserviceable supplies and inspects the materials, equipment, and other assets of the Office. It performs duties according to the key performance indicators.
4. Fund Management Section
Responsible for accounting operations, including preparing production cost statements, financial statements, revenue and expenditure forecasts, and developing and controlling expenditure plans. It handles the receipt and remittance of income from contract manufacturing, prepares vouchers, requests and receives funds, and manages the custody and disbursement of the official imprest funds for the revolving fund for coin management, state valuable assets, and manufacturing operations. It also manages the financial accounting for the Mint Office's welfare fund.
5. Planning, Development and Information Technology Section
Responsible for studying, analyzing, and planning the office's strategic and tactical plans, as well as for the production processes for circulating coins, commemorative coins, commemorative medals, royal decorations, and various contracted items. It also monitors production to ensure compliance with the development plans, improves production processes for maximum efficiency, and manages information technology operations to align with the plans and achieve the set goals.
6. Quality Control Section
Responsible for studying, researching, analyzing, and investigating the properties of metals currently used in production, and gathering information to support the adoption of new types of metals for future use. It inspects final products, as well as samples submitted for laboratory testing, to ensure that they meet the targets. It oversees the calibration of weighing, measuring, and volumetric instruments used in the production system and ensures the implementation of appropriate quality control systems in the production process.
7. Design and Drafting Section
Responsible for design and drafting operations, composing layouts of patterns and typography for circulating coins, commemorative coins, commemorative medals with ribbons, commemorative medals, royal decorations, insignias of honor, and contracted items. It also creates posters, brochures, coin certificates, packaging, and various print media, and arranges layouts and illustrations for books related to coins, applying modern technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of design and drafting work, as well as other assigned duties on important occasions.
8. Model Sculpting and Casting Section
Responsible for sculpting, refining, and casting models for circulating coins, commemorative coins, commemorative medals, commemorative medals with ribbons, royal decorations, insignias of honor, and contracted items. It also undertakes the production of state property building signs for installation at state property offices nationwide.
9. Die Section
Responsible for producing and analyzing master dies and working dies for coins, commemorative coins, royal decorations, insignias of honor, and contracted items, ensuring suitability for each type of coin. It applies engineering and scientific knowledge to develop and improve the modern and efficient production methods for master dies and working dies.
10. Blank Production Section
Responsible for overseeing the production process of coin blanks, including metal melting and casting, metal surface planning, metal sheet rolling, blank cutting, cleaning, annealing of metal sheets and blanks, rimming of coins, melting and casting processes for machine spare parts, and the cleaning of tarnished coins, and counting/packaging processes, ensuring compliance with the plans and achievement of the set goals.
11. Stamping Section
Responsible for overseeing the stamping process for circulating coins, commemorative coins, rhodium plating, coin counting and packaging, and the stamping of royal decorations, insignias of honor, and contracted items, ensuring compliance with the plans and achievement of the set goals.
12. Craftsmanship Section
Responsible for overseeing the production process for royal decorations, insignias of honor, commemorative medals, and various contracted items, including the stages of cutting, punching, shaping and refining, filing, special piece production, enameling, diamond setting, soldering, polishing, background engraving, sarong diamond cutting, and inscription engraving, ensuring compliance with the plans and achievement of the set goals.
13. Product Management Section
Responsible for overseeing the production process for royal decorations, insignias of honor, commemorative medals, and various contracted items, including the stages of copper casting, blackening, sandblasting, lacquer coating, polishing, metal plating, annealing, assembly, ribbon sewing, and counting and packaging of finished products, ensuring compliance with the plans and achievement of the set goals.
14. Electrical Engineering Section
Responsible for managing, planning, controlling, supervising, tracking, and analyzing preventive electrical and electronic maintenance work for production machinery, and for repairing and rectifying the Mint Office's infrastructure systems, such as power supply, communication systems electricity, lighting, cooling water and compressed air systems for machinery, central and split-type air conditioning systems, fire prevention and extinguishing systems, gas detection systems, factory and community wastewater treatment systems, security systems, etc., ensuring operational readiness in accordance with each system's standards while also providing technical advice and consultation on electrical systems to other units.
15. Mechanical Engineering Section
Responsible for managing, planning, controlling, supervising, tracking, and analyzing preventive and corrective maintenance work for all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure systems of the Mint. This includes the production of parts and spare parts for machinery, the installation and repair of h4room doors and safes, and providing technical advice and consultation on specifying new machinery details, operational methods for various machinery and equipment, and procuring new technology and machinery to develop and reduce costs in the related production processes.
